BFG+ Slaugth Amaranthine Syndicate V0.6

Though I am a bit slower than expected (due to other projects), here is the first playable version of the Battlefleet Gothic Slaugth fleet list:

Slaugth_V0.6

It is intended to be played with the 2010 FAQ / rules update.

Now let there be heavy playtesting to balance all the rules / ships and their point costs. Have fun!

Grey Knights strike cruiser proxy

Today I just finished my Grey Knights strike cruiser. For the model I used Firestorm Armada’s Zenian League Rense System Navy (RSN) Phoenix Class Destroyer.

For the basecoat I used Citadels Chaos Black, then Vallejos Gunmetal Metal. Then I inked the whole miniature with Badab Black, let it dry and afterwards drybrushed everything with Vallejo Game Color Silver.

The details are painted with Shining Gold, Golden Yellow, Scarlett Red and highlighted with brightened up versions of the same colours. Then I added some Games Workshop’s decals using Vallejos Decal Medium to cover and soften the borders of the decals so you won’t see them. Some lines and dots of white colour were put on the highest lying edges of the hull to strengthen the shining impression of the metal body.

BFG+ Amaranthine Syndicate V0.4

I’ve been working on the Amaranthine Syndicate / Slaugth faction fleet list for Battlefleet Gothic in the past few days and although heavy deleting and rewriting is going on at the moment I wanted to show what I’ve been working on recently.

Slaugth_V0.4

This version is far from done and even not playable yet but maybe you already want to take a look to see where this is going.
The ship weapon stats are not final, also the point costs are not adjusted properly. There are some descriptions wrong and/or missing and I’m not yet happy with the critical hit table of the new “Necrotic Beams”. Also I find it very hard to write new ship types.

My plan is to release a playable Version 0.5 soon and then extensively playtest and refine the fleet list. Also I am working on minature models for the Slaugth faction. They hopefully will be ready for ‘mass production’ once we hit version 1.0.

Comments, ideas and helpful suggestions are very welcome!

BFG plus

I always thought that the very well written Warhammer 40k background setting offered more possibilities for game design than just the well-selling major races, which Games Workshop supports with rulebooks and miniatures.

And the same applies to Battlefleet Gothic. Here we also just have the major factions – except the Adeptus Mechanicum, which I have very much welcomed.

But what about the other very inspiring ‘minor’ races/factions? Hrud? Slann? Kroot, Slaugth, Rak’Gol, Diasporex? Just to name a few..

bfgboxplus2So I decided to write a ruleset for them, starting with the dangerous and morbid Slaugth! If I like it and if it’s well accepted I will continue with more minor races. After some playtesting those rules will be available for download as “BFGplus”. Stay tuned!

BFG Traitor fleet progress

As you can see my Battlefleet Gothic Traitor fleet (Alpha Legion colour scheme) is growing. Or at least it is getting some paint. As already mentioned previously I use Firestorm Armada models as chep proxies.

From left to right you can see:

Sorylian Collective Plumbata Class Corvette -> perfectly to use for escort ships with a lance weapon in the front (e.g. Chaos Idolator Class Raider)

Zenian League RSN Spook Class Cruiser -> I think it fits very good for Imperial Navy Cruisers although I use this as a Chaos carrier

Corsairs Brigand Class Cruiser -> they have a nice ‘evil’ look so you can use them as ‘standard’ Chaos Cruisers

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAThe quality of the cast is ok. They come in resin with metal parts but the price is unbeatable: 6 – 7,25£ for 1 cruiser is just great!

Firestorm Armada as proxies for BFG

Some of my friends and me recently started playing Battlefield Gothic, one of the abandoned, unloved “Specialist Games” from Games Workshop.

Because the miniatures are now out of production we decided to use spaceships from Firestorm Armada. They look suprisingly good and in comparison they are really cheap.

Now I start building both Imperial Navy and Traitor fleets.
